James Caldwell Hotaling was born March 4, 1885, in Prairie Home, Lancaster, Nebraska. He is the son of William VanBuren and Margaret Ann (Thomas) Hotaling. He was a real estate agent in Tarzana, California and was known as "Jim of the Valley." He is my Great Uncle. He died June 13, 1965, in Tarzana, California
