Ora E."Boe"Underwood Jr.,85,of Oakland,Neb.,died Tuesday,March 2, at a Sioux City hospital.Services will be 10:30a.m.Saturday,at Frist Evangelical Church in Oakland,with Rev.Mark Eldahl officiating.Burial in City Cemetery,Lyons,Neb.Boe was born Jan.14,1919,in Bancroft,Neb.,son of Ora E. & Effie I.(Bowman)Underwood Sr.He was raised in and attended school in the Walthill,Neb,area.He served in the U.S.Army Civilian Conservation Camp from 1937-1938.He farmed in Burt and Cumming counties in Nebraska,before becoming a commercial truck driver.He married Gertrude M.(Schrader)Irey on March 26,1983,at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City,Iowa.He was a member of Frist Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Chamber of Commerce.Survivors include beloved wife,Gertrude;son Rick & Jeanine of Kansas City,Kan.;stepson,Dale Irey of Laurel,Neb.;three daughters,Sharon Smith of Sioux City,Carol & husband Dan Swanson of Fla.,Betty March and special friend,Reuben Martinez of Denver,Colo.;sister,Hesper"Teal"Brecht of Wyo.;10 grandchildren;five stepgrandchildren;15 greata-grandchildren;two great-stepgrandchildren.He preceded in death by his parents;two sons,Larry Douglas and Billy Underwood;three brothers,Opal,Delmar and Jack;two sisters,Nellie Hultquist and Delores"Tead"Hunter.
