Crystal Marie Flores-Ortega, 24, of Westfield, IA passed away on Tuesday afternoon, September 22, 2015 from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident south of Westfield, along Iowa Highway 12, while on her way to work.
Crystal was born on August 25, 1991 in Lynwood, CA, the daughter of Joseph Flores and Amarilys Ortega. She attended grade school in California, high school in Sioux City, IA, and graduated from Youth Build in Sioux City. She worked as a cook at the Hard Rock Casino in Sioux City before working for Tyson Foods in Dakota City, NE.
Crystal loved dancing, singing, children, pets, playing Bingo and going to casinos. She loved doing things outdoors. She loved to help people in any way she could, including being a donor.
Survivors include her mother and her mother's fiancé, Amarilys Flores and Jose Alfredo Vallejo of Sioux City, IA; her step-father, Javier Flores of Chicago, IL; grandparents, Julia and Pedro Ortega of Sioux City, IA; her fiancé, Dustin Taylor of Westfield, IA; uncles, Hassan and Angel Ortega of Sioux City, IA and Gabriel Ortega of South Sioux City, NE; uncles and aunts, Bobby, Sonya, Frank, Joann, Sergio, Juan and Ramon of California; and her second mother, brothers and sisters (in her eyes), Jessica Perez, Julio, Armando, Isiah, Harmony, Jolyssa, Serena and Tristan.
Crystal was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Flores; and her grandparents, Dolores and Raymond Flores.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, September 28, 2015 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, NE. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in South Sioux City. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with rosary and scriptural wake service at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE.
